Supported Living
What is the Supported Living Service?
The Supported Living Service has been set up to enable and support individuals 18 – 65 years of age, who are living independently. The service aims to assist people to remain in their community, within their own home and, live as full and independent a life as possible.
The service:
- Provides support for daily living skills to people living in the community, including practical and emotional support.
- Includes developing a package of care to help move to independent living.
- Will co-ordinate with other services and resources.
- Evaluate the point at which service withdraws and other longer term services take over.

The service is usually provided to:
- Clients with dementia
- Learning difficulties
- Mental health problems
- Sensory loss
- Who need assistance in their home
- Who need assistance with daily living tasks, for example, shopping, pensions, help around the home and, maintaining independence within the community
- Individuals who need assistance with physical care needs.

- You will be fully involved in planning and reviewing the services you receive.
- To receive respect in regard to your needs, whether they are physical, social, emotional, sexual, cultural, spiritual or political.
- You will be informed of all events and services that affect you.
- To have your right to privacy and confidentiality respected.
- Have the right to comment or complain about services you receive.
- To be treated equally regardless of racial and ethnic origin, gender, ability, age, sexuality or religious beliefs.
- To have personal uniqueness recognised.
- To be treated as an individual whose views are listened to.
- To retain control of your life.
